Most people searching for help with a mower or chainsaw aren't typing "servicing" — they're typing "repairs". It's worth us talking about both, because a lot of what looks like a repair job (a mower that won't start, a chainsaw that's cutting crooked) is actually fixed through the same basic service our team runs on every machine that comes through the workshop.
What's checked in a basic service:
- Lawnmowers (2 & 4 stroke) and tillers — carburettor tune, fuel filter, spark plug and air filter replaced or cleaned, cooling fins and starter housing cleaned, blades and belts inspected, and (on 4-stroke engines) an oil and valve clearance check.
- Chainsaws & power cutters — the same core checks, plus chain, bar, sprocket, oil tank and chain brake inspected, the chain sharpened, and an electronic diagnosis run where applicable.
- Ride-on & zero-turn mowers — everything above plus clutch, steering, transmission, battery and electrical fittings checked, and tyre pressures adjusted.
- Blowers, trimmers, brushcutters & hedge trimmers — carburettor, filters, cooling and starter housing, plus (for trimmers and brushcutters) the clutch, blades and gearbox lubrication.
Full detail on each is on our servicing page.
Chainsaw sharpening and bar dressing are $10 each, with free local delivery and pick-up — one of the quickest, lowest-cost ways to get a tired chainsaw cutting properly again without a full service.
Not sure if you need a repair or a service? If a machine won't start, is losing power, or isn't cutting the way it used to, bring it in — our team runs the same diagnostic checks either way, and most of what people assume is a bigger repair job turns out to be covered by a standard service.
